In 2026, We're Going to the Chiropractor
We’ve heard it before—chiropractors aren’t real doctors. Maybe you believe it yourself, or maybe you’re just skeptical about the benefits of chiropractic medicine in general. It’s okay, I get it.
But the truth is—if you’re interested in holistic wellness even a little bit, we need to talk about chiropractic care. So, what is it?
According to John Hopkins Medicine, "Chiropractic medicine is based on the link between the alignment of the spine and the function of the body. A core tenant of chiropractic medicine is the belief that the body has the ability to heal itself if given proper support.”
I don’t know about you, but the idea that our bodies can thrive by simple adjustments to the spine is really interesting to me. I write this as I’m sick with a cold and have had pain in my upper back for the past two weeks.
Is it a coincidence? I don’t know, maybe. Or perhaps the misalignment of my spine impacted my overall health and immune function. I probably won’t know for sure but regardless, I made an appointment with Krauza Family Chiropractic to get adjusted soon.
Dr. Steven Krauza of Erie, PA has been practicing chiropractic care for 22 years. His interest in the field began when he was a kid, going to chiropractor appointments with his dad.
“I was intrigued by what the chiropractor was doing to my dad,” Krauza said. “I always wanted to get into the healthcare field to help people and I like to work with my hands, so that just opened the door of curiosity.”
As he got older, Dr. Krauza started shadowing a chiropractor and realized the natural, less invasive approach to health was aligned with his own values.
With time, he has found that chiropractic is the vehicle for his whole life’s philosophy—to see people accomplish things they never thought they could or would accomplish.
“Everyone has, in the back of their mind, something they want to do but don’t think they’re capable of doing,” Krauza explained. “If someone comes in and says, ‘I want to run a 5K but I can’t because my knees hurt,’ I can start to work with them so their joint pain goes away.”
Krauza wants to help people crack that glass ceiling and realize the sky is the limit so they believe in themselves and can end their suffering.
“I want to help eliminate people suffering, which is really more of a mental thing,” Krauza said. “If I can help guide people on a path of health and wellness so they can be who they want to be, it reduces their suffering.”
Krauza Family Chiropractic doesn’t just offer chiropractic care to get people where they want to be. They also offer patient education about nutrition, exercise, stretching, goal setting, and stress management.
Despite the misconception that once you start seeing a chiropractor you have to go forever, Krauza’s goal is actually for patients to need him less.
“You can go to the chiropractor whenever you want—once a week, once a year, once every two years—but the people who adopt it on a regular basis look at it as a lifestyle choice,” Krauza said. “What ends up happening is people get used to feeling good. Feeling in pain, stiff, and achy all the time is common, but it’s not normal.”
How much you choose to invest in chiropractic care is all based upon your own personal goals and values, and Dr. Krauza aims to educate patients in a way that serves their lifestyle.
“My ideal patient is someone who is actively involved in their health because then it becomes a teamwork effort,” Krauza said. “They do their part, I do mine, and together, health is restored.”
Krauza’s youngest patient so far was 12 hours old, and his oldest was 97 years old. He serves men and women of all ages, but young adult women are his bread and butter.
“Whether starting or already having a family, the mothers are typically the orchestrators of the health in their household for themselves, their spouse, and their children,” Krauza said. “Young adult women who are single and maybe career-oriented want to take care of themselves and maximize their health.”
Chiropractic care is not just for people with back pain and headaches. Dr. Krauza works with issues in the feet, ankles, knees, hips, elbows, wrists, shoulders, and jaw. It’s also common for him to work with conditions like constipation and sinus infections.
“Chiropractic doesn’t actually treat those conditions, but what I’m doing is focusing on the integrity of the nervous system and spine,” Krauza explained.
You may have heard that chiropractors think they can cure the common cold. Well, no, they can’t and they wouldn’t want to because that’s not their focus.
“There’s scientific research that’s shown that after an adjustment to the spine, it stimulates T-cells which are immune cells within the body,” Krauza said. “By adjusting the spine when someone's sick, it's not treating the illness but it's boosting the immune system so it can go into action and start fighting the infection much more effectively.”
Again, precisely why I’ll be seeing Dr. Krauza next week 😉
And why Dr. Krauza? you might ask. Because he’s one of us. He wears jeans, his front office is a little messy, and he’s been there.
“I have my strengths, my weaknesses, my own vulnerabilities, and I share those with people,” Krauza said. “If someone’s struggling with weight loss or fitness, I share my struggles and challenges and bring them along for the ride to say, ‘Hey look, I’m in the same boat as you.’ I like to lead from within the trenches.”
While he doesn’t like to toot his own horn, Dr. Krauza is a one-man show who doesn’t outsource to any staff members. He’s the one talking with patients, the insurance companies, and making referrals when necessary.
He gets patients in at any time—no matter if it’s an inconvenience for him. He offers an economic hardship rate for patients. And above all else, he walks the talk, even leading an outdoor workout group three nights a week.
“Team Adrenaline meets outside, year round, and is for all fitness levels and ages. It’s basically an adult gym class,” Krauza said. “We don’t use any equipment or weights. We just use our own bodies.”
Team Adrenaline runs on a punch card system, with no membership fees. Punch cards never expire and you show up as your schedule allows—simple as that. And guess what? Your first workout is always free!
“I do this as kind of an offshoot to the chiropractic business because I can see where people's weaknesses are in this building,” Krauza said. “The workouts are designed to help people strengthen those areas that bring them into the office, so they might not need me as much. They think they're just doing boring or tough workouts, but it's actually working for a specific outcome.”
Now, I don’t know if I’m brave enough to attend a Team Adrenaline workout but I love that the opportunity exists. And I love that we have a doctor in Erie who cares so much about his patients and the lifestyles we lead.
In 2026, we’re going to Krauza Family Chiropractic. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll join Team Adrenaline too!
